Mission

April 29, 2007 · 1 Comment

Hi all.

I’m about to go away for a week, and you are all about to have 20 or so people from Bible college descend on church for a week in return (isn’t that sweet – they’re replacing me… and John and Mel… with 20 people!).

Why? Well, as most of you would know, I’m a student at a Bible College. Each year we take a week off classes and go to churches around Sydney and beyond, and help them run a mission to reach out to their local community, their friends, family, work and school colleagues, with the gospel of Jesus.

So I’m going down to St George North for a week. Highlights of my week are looking like speaking at a wine-and-cheese night on spiritual discernment – that is, there is more to life than collecting good wine. At the end of life we’re going to meet God, so the important discernment to have now is spiritual discernment, considering the life and work of Jesus Christ. I’m also going to the footy with the youth group on Friday.

What’s on at West Lindfield? The week is called ‘A Better Life‘, and there’s heaps of stuff happening not only at our church but also at Lindfield and East Lindfield too. Check out the website for more info.

And most significantly, there’s the youth rally on Friday to get along to, and take your friends.

Hope you have a good week. I’ll be praying for you, that your friends will come along and hear about the life-changing Jesus.

Catch you later.

Sam.

Ultimate league

April 28, 2007 · 1 Comment

G’day all.

For you who don’t know, Sam and Kristy play Ultimate Frisbee. This is a very fun sport which rely on honesty for the game to be played properly and fairly. Since i have had my knee reconstruction i have not been able to play anything for 9 months now, BUT i have been starting to play Frisbee :) My skills are getting better and i have help from a guy who ill just say is name is “Cupcake” (Sam and Kristy knows who that is ;) And i now play for his team in league. Although i am a starter at this sport i still reckon we can take on Sam and Kristy and win :P :P (i love talking it up) we wil see how it will pan out after the 14th of may.

This is something I would just thought I would type just to let everyone know that Sam and Kristy are going down :D

Term 2 2007

April 27, 2007 · Leave a Comment

There’s heaps happening this term.

I don’t know about you, but when someone says that they are “a follower of Jesus”, it always sounds a bit funny to me. I mean, he’s not actually here walking around here anymore. We can’t follow in quite the same way as his mates did – they physically walked around the countryside with him. So this term, we’re going to be looking through Luke’s gospel (his biography of Jesus), and looking at what it actually means for someone in the 21st century to follow Jesus. It’s going to be great.

Here’s a bit of a rundown of the stuff that’s happening week to week:

Week 1 (April 27): Welcome Back. Mini Olympics.

Week 2 (May 4): Huge youth night over at St Albans Lindfield. It’s a combined youth night from all over Lindfield, so bring your friends!

Week 3 (May 11): Spiderman Movie Marathon. See the first two before you catch the third at the movies. From 5pm onwards.

Week 4 (May 18): Trivia night. Get those brains into gear!

Week 5 (May 25): Crazy. Come along.

Week 6 (June 1): Ice Skating – Macquarie Center. 6.45pm – 9.30pm

Week 7 (June 8): Talent Quest. Sing, play an instrument, read poetry, perform mime, get your little sister to play the drums while you dance, whatever.

Week 8 (June 15): Girls & Guys night.

Week 9 (June 22): Make a movie. Release your inner director.

Week 10 (June 29): Regressive. We start with dessert, move onto another place for mains, then another for entree. Yum.
